Poll: Men and Women Alike Embrace eCards on Valentine's Day

White Plains, NY - February 8, 2007 - Whether chivalry is dead may still be up for debate, but as to which gender is more likely to send a last-minute Valentine’s Day eCard, the answer is clear--and rather surprising. Women (80 percent) are more likely than men (64 percent) to send an eCard as a last-minute greeting to loved ones according to a recent national survey of online users conducted by Harris Interactive® for My Fun Cards™, a free eCard Web service from IAC Search & Media, Inc., a wholly-owned business of IAC (NASDAQ: IACI). To help men and women remind their loved ones how they feel this Valentine’s Day, My Fun Cards (www.myfuncards.com) offers a wide variety of creative, customizable eCards to send the perfect message.

The survey polled more than 2,000 adults to determine how men and women feel about sending and receiving eCards on Valentine’s Day. If men were to wake up on Valentine’s day without a card or gift for their loved ones they are most likely to send an eCard to their significant other (45 percent) this Valentine’s Day, while women would primarily send eCards to family and friends (67 percent) to show they care.

Other survey findings include:

  • While most men today seem to claim indifference to receiving a gift or card from their partner, 51 percent say it is "somewhat" to "very" important to them.
  • Flowers and candy may only last a few days, but it seems clear that the continued reminder of a partner’s love can be ever-lasting with a card. In fact, 56 percent of men and 79 percent of women surveyed save the cards they receive from their partners.

While many people will continue buying and sending traditional Valentine's Day cards this year, there's no better way to personalize and animate a Valentine than with an eCard from My Fun Cards, available through the MyWebSearch® browser toolbar. Those who are forgetful or in a time crunch will find the ease and convenience of My Fun Cards especially useful. And for those who plan ahead, users can even pick out the perfect eCard well in advance of the romantic holiday, and My Fun Cards will deliver the greeting on February 14th.

"It’s clear that men and women place importance on the cards and gifts they receive for Valentine’s Day," said Saralyn Bass, spokesperson for My Fun Cards, "but people are busier than ever these days, and computers are increasingly becoming our primary tool for communication. We wanted to create an opportunity for men and women to ‘e-mote’ and tap into their romantic side to show loved ones they care. Even if it means sending a cute dancing bear eCard to their partner before leaving work on Valentine’s Day."

My Fun Cards offers 1,500 free electronic greetings, all of which can be sent using e-mail or an instant messenger such as AIM®, MSN Messenger™, Yahoo! Messenger™ or Google Talk™.

My Fun Cards is part of the free MyWebSearch browser toolbar, and is easily accessible from an IM window or Web browser. The toolbar also provides users with other popular free products including Smiley Central™, Zwinky™, Cursor Mania™ and Popular Screensavers™.
